Ebook About Do you believe in love at first sight?Corey Ellis sure doesn’t. Oh, everyone around him seems to have found their happy ending, but he’s far too busy to worry about such things. He’ll have plenty of time for romance after he survives his last summer before graduation. So what if he can’t get his former professor, Jeremy Olsen, out of his head? It’s just hero worship. And that’s the way it should stay.Except that this summer, bigender Corey—aka Kori—is interning at Phoenix House, a LGBTQI youth center that recently hired an interim director. And because life is extraordinarily unfair, the director just so happens to be a certain former professor, now current boss.Desperate to keep things professional as he and Jeremy grow closer, Corey makes a major mistake: he turns to his friends, Paul Auster and Sanford Stewart, for help. But Paul and Sandy have some ideas of their own.Set in the summer of 2016, Why We Fight is a celebration of queer life and being true to oneself… no matter the cost.Book Why We Fight (At First Sight Book 4) Review :
God. I read today that Klune is done writing in contemporary for the near future and I felt that in my bones the entire time I read this book. It made it so much...more. More full. More dense. More beautiful. This was a lighthearted and silly romance but it was also a resistance; a battle cry. It is funny, yes, and it is sometimes silly, yes, but it is also full of TJ standing up and saying that he needs the reader to KNOW, to UNDERSTAND. And it’s so deep. It’s so thought provoking. It’s also really hot.Running thoughts: YES HIII IM HERE.Just goin in strong.HahahahahaLmaooo. You know since I’ve laughed this much when I’m only 4 pages in, it means that I’m going to be sobbing by the next chapter. That’s TJ.I just choked trying to inhale air and read at the same time.Update: stilllaughing.Aw. Ty.SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.Listen. Some day I will be OLD and I will be MEDDLESOME.Ugh, feels.Oh my god yes. YES.On TJ’s blog there was a post in reference to cis-blinders and as a person who grew up in rural Kansas, I feel like maybe I spent a lot of years with blinders on. In everything. And I feel like TJ has helped (in his writing) to open my eyes to that a little. Two years ago I probably would have skipped this book over, for REASONS, and it would have been me who would have missed out. The positive: These characters are as lovable as ever. Them interacting as a group is always funny yet heartwarming, and new characters Robert and Jeremy fit into the grouping well, while still bringing their own thing to the table. When the focus is on them as a family, this book really shines. Getting to know Charlie better was a great way to end the series. And even many of the “bad guy” characters (Santiago the waiter, particularly) are charming in their own way, which makes for an entertaining read. The chemistry between the leads works well, though I could’ve stood a little bit more direct interaction between them. The negative: This is HEAVILY political. Significantly moreso than any book before it in this series. So in between the great characterization are pages upon pages of angry political ranting - nothing wrong with it if that’s what you’re expecting, but also something I generally avoid out of my romantic comedies. Political spite is a main character in this novel, so you’d better be ready for it. I’d have rather seen some of that time used on developing Jeremy and Corey’s relationship more, but Klune clearly wanted this book to be equally about informing and teaching. Also, could do with about 6 less instances of Corey insulting someone for their race when he's annoyed.Still overall a fine book, but not as good as the others in the series have been.
